The big layoffs at Paramount are probably going to happen a little faster than some people thought.
David Ellison is planning his first earnings call as CEO on Nov. 10, after he started leading the company in August.
This call is going to be important, as Ellison and his top team will talk about the company’s financial plans and future direction.
Now, the expected layoffs are likely to happen before this call, possibly as early as the week of Oct. 27, according to sources.
While the exact number of positions being cut hasn’t been announced yet, one source said it could be around 2,000. Paramount had over 18,600 employees at the end of 2024, though there were some layoffs earlier this year before the Skydance deal was finalized.
The cuts are expected to affect all parts of the company, including CBS News, the movie studio, streaming services, and TV networks.
Deadline was the first to report on this quicker timeline.
